Primo vs Bloodline

Can anyone who had had both in their hands do a comparison on these gloves.

I found a new Primo (1150s) for 300 bucks at a local store.. they must have had it sitting since it arrived and just want to unload it.

So i can get that glove for 300 or a new Bloodline for 250

I love the feel of the Primo, but am romanced by the idea of an American Made Nokona... i've had several of the Nokonas on my hand but none of them felt nearly as good as the Rawlings gloves...

I really want the modified trapeze we but the one for 300 bucks has the shallow web, but it is brand new (aside from store use) If i get the Bloodline, it would be the mod-trap web... so its probably not an exact a-b comparison but general comparisons would be great.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would buy the primo, I own all the primos and two bloddlines the 11.5 trap and the 12 closed web, they are nice but no where near the quality of the primos. there sizing is off, the 11.5 trap feels like an 11 inch and is very snug on my hand. The leather is thinner and I didn't know this but it has kangaroo on the back. I love nokona but I am not thrilled with the bloodline series, the buffalo models are much nicer

I am a Nokona lover but I would have to agree to go with with the Primo. Much thicker leather, better glove all around. I have the PRM1275 Trap, and there is no comparison. With the Bloodlines, I think Nocona tried to emulate the Primo glove, but falls far short in my opinion.

Over the weekend I went back to the mom and pop shop that has all models of the Bloodline series. This time I was more objective in my observations and noticed that several gloves had Kangaroo leather backsides, including the 11.5 mod. trap and the 12.75 trapeze. The 12" closed web was made of the new leather. Now I thought the hype with these new Bloodlines is the new type of leather they are using. If so, then why are they not using it exclusively for this series? I am going to hold off on these, but the Kimeras are a different story.

Yeah not sure what they are doing with them, I still thought the sizing was screwed up, just didn't feel is was worth $250, the kimera series is nice but I feel they are thin also. I guess I am use to the thicker 175s

It is hard to compare the primo 399 to the bloodline 250$. Thats 150 dollar swing. What i liked about Nokonas is how light they are. I think thats what they are aiming for. A stiff glove but also light. I am really looking forward to seeing the Kimera. It is my price range. i will be going to my local shop to check them out this weekend.

I believe that ser182 is correct in guessing that Nokona is trying to make a lighter glove than the Primo. The knock on the Primo has always been that they are too heavy. By using Kangaroo on the back of the glove, they are shaving a few ounces off the weight of the glove. Ounce for ounce, kangaroo hide is the world's strongest leather, but it is considerably thinner than cow/steer/kip hide.

Absolutely right on the price difference, there is a huge jump there. IMO, for $260 the Bloodlines are a bargain compared to the Primos, and they are made in the USA. What I meant was that the Bloodline looks a lot like the Primo. It has the white stitching and uses their "Prime" leather. The funny thing is that some of the Bloodline models use kangaroo for the back shell, and some don't. The 12" I put on was made entirely of the Prime leather and didn't feel heavy to me. Don't get me wrong, I love Nokona and their kangaroo gloves and have several of them. Personally I would love to see 2 series in the Bloodline, one with all Prime leather, and one with the combo Prime/Kangaroo.

If you compare the bloodlines to nokona buffalo series they still aren't as nice, and the buffalo models are cheaper. I really dont like them a whole alot, the logo, the leather, and the sizing. The buffalo series to me is better. I have two Kimera series models they are alright for the price. The sizing on them is off too. I have the 12 inch trap and its the same size if not smaller than my 11.5 rawling trap, and the leather is very thin. I understand they want a lightweight glove but dont' make them thinner, they wont last as long

Bledwett I am total agreement with you on this. For me there is buffalo and then everything else. Also you are right on with the glove sizes. Every one of their 12.75" Trap models I have come across measures out at barely 12", and this includes the Bloodline I saw. The 12.75" mod traps I have seem to be more accurate

Yeah, I love nokona, and I like that they are trying differnent things, the new buffalo I got has different colors in it noew for the embriodery, very nice, and the kimera are nice, so they are doing alot of good things. I am a huge fan of the older model, when you buy one you feel like you got $140 worth, just beautiful gloves, my whole basement smells like them

Funny thing, like most everyone here, I smell my gloves (at least my newer ones), when I pick them up. Every time I would get a new glove, especially a Nokona, I would have my wife smell it. Initially she thought I was crazy but bless her she has bought into my glove addiction. She loves the smell of Nokona leather, so now whenever I get a new glove from another brand, she comments "Still doesn't smell as good as a Nokona".
Think I'll keep her...
